Happy Sunday! I hope it has been the perfect amount of slothy and productive. It’s been a pretty gloomy day in Toronto so I haven’t accomplished too much. I did however make it out of the apartment to run a few errands. I went to my usual Sunday spots: PetSmart for litter and Homesense – which I also go in for nothing but came out with a bread pan today. I also discovered there is an Old Navy right by the PetSmart and Homesense in our neighbourhood so I didn’t to look around and came out with 2 new cozy long sleeve sweaters. I haven’t bought new clothes in months so I’m walking around my apartment feeling like wonder woman in my new sweater (even thought they were both on sale, I love a good sale).
I don’t know about anybody else, but, gloomy days make me want to stay inside and bake cozy things. So, that’s exactly what I did. We happen to live directly above a grocery store so when I found a recipe for Cranberry Orange Banana Bread I got super excited. From the time Stefan buys bananas when he’s home to the time he leaves for work, there is usually a couple stray ones left that I know I won’t eat so they end up in the freezer. I finally had enough to whip up a batch of bread! I found the recipe I made from one of my favourite food blogger/recipe sites: Gimme Some Oven. It’s currently cooling on the counter SO if I managed not to screw it up, I’ll post about it at a later time.
Now, onto the actual content of this post: my updated skin care routine. I have struggled endlessly with this topic. I’ve had troublesome skin for as long as I can remember and as soon as I think I have found the perfect product combination my skin rejects it. Most recently, I had been using CeraVe products and I really loved them. But, over time I started feeling like my skin just wasn’t getting what it needed. Enter my boyfriend to the rescue! Stefan constantly listens to me complain about my dry skin, my irritating breakouts that I think are the size of planet Earth, or my daily struggle with trying to accept my face the way it is without makeup. He always tells me it’s not as bad as I think it is when I look at myself but if struggled with it for so long I always find that hard to believe.
A couple of months ago, he came back from his 2 weeks on the road with a gift for me. Usually when he comes home and says he has a gift for me, it’s a weird form of candy he’s picked up from Hong Kong. This time he put down a Kiehls box in front of me. I proceeded to open it and it was filled with a bunch of samples and full size products. He had taken time out of his overnight to talk to someone at a Kiehls store and explain my skin to them. He told them I live in Canada so it tends to get a lot colder in the winter with harsh winds that can dry a girls face out and that I struggle with acne breakouts. This magical man then threw together a box of magical products that I am now more in love with than I have ever been with a skin care product. Aside from the products I use daily, it came with little samples of eye cream, face masks, and serums. I wanted to share these goodies with you guys. Everyone has very different skin which means everyones skin care routine can vary but if you were ever considering treat yourself to some good quality skincare products, I highly recommend these ones:
Step 1: Cleanse your face with the Clearly Corrective Purifying Foaming Cleanser.
Step 2: Soak a cotton pad with the Calendula Herbal-Extract Toner. Wipe over your entire face and neck area. *The fact that it’s alcohol-free means it won’t dry out your skin.
Step 3: Apply a tiny amount of the Hydro-Plumping Re-Texturizing Serum Concentrate. A little bit goes a long way with this one.
Step 4: Finish with a pea-sized amount of the Ultra Facial Cream. Once again, a little goes a long way and the layer of the Hydro-Plumping Serum really helps this moisturizer go the distance on your face. This is by far the best facial moisturizer I have ever used. It leaves my face feeling soft and moisturized for the entire day even when I’m flying for 14 hours.
Well kids, that’s my skin care routine as of October 2017. I’ve attached a link to each product I’ve listed incase you want to check them out. I’m sure it will change again because my skin changes whenever it damn decides to. But, in the meantime a huge shoutout to Stefan for saving my skin and keeping it healthy.
